Why Spay or Neuter My Pet?

A spay is the surgical removal of the ovaries, uterine horns and uterus in a female animal.

Reasons to have your pet spayed:

  1. Prevents unwanted pregnancies
  2. Eliminates in-heat/estrus cycle
  3. Eliminates risk of uterine or ovarian cancer
  4. Decreases chance of breast cancers if spayed before first heat

A neuter is the surgical removal of both testicles in a male animal.

Reasons to have your pet neutered:

  1. Reduces risk of prostate cancer and other genital diseases
  2. Reduces unwanted roaming and fighting
  3. Reduces territorial marking with offensive urine odors
