One of the most common complications that can arise with a neuter, is when one or both testicles in not situated within the scrotum, but rather is retained somewhere within the abdominal cavity.

This situation is normally determined in the pre-surgical examination. When this occurs, a larger abdominal incision is required in order to locate the position of retained testicle, so that it can be completely removed.

A retained testicle has an increased risk of cancer, so it must be removed.
